Overview

University of the Pacific (UOP) is a private university with three campuses located in Sacramento, San Francisco, and Stockton, California. UOP offers more than 80 undergraduate and 30 graduate programs, serving over 6,000 students. The university prides itself in creating a vibrant learning environment with small class sizes and a student-faculty ratio of 13:1.

Challenges

Tony Carrero, Enterprise Systems Manager, manages a 9-person team focused on maintaining security, durability, and availability across UOP’s infrastructure. Prior to Rubrik, the university experienced several issues with its legacy data management solution, including prolonged restore times and complex, time-consuming policy management. “Our previous solution was difficult to use; you essentially needed a bachelor’s degree in the software in order to administer it. UOP is also protecting Microsoft Office 365 with Rubrik’s Polaris SaaS platform. The university needs to retain its data for 60-90 days, which is not covered by Office 365’s standard 30-day retention. With Rubrik, Carrero and team now feel confident that their mailboxes are protected.
